The BUCS Judo Championships (British Universities and Colleges Sport) returned to Sheffield as part of the BUCS Nationals on 21-22 February.
CJC’s Sarah Hill represented Edinburgh University in -70kg , she won 4 fights in her pool, all by ippon to progress to the semi final. Another ippon win placed her in the final against Junior World medallist Ebony Drysdale- Daley. Sarah was unable to maintain her winning streak and came away with the silver, a great achievement and something to be proud of.
Another CJC grown talent, this time representing Surrey Uni, was Stuart Brown in a very tough -73kg category. He seemed to be following in club mate Sarah’s footsteps by also notching up 2 ippon wins to start off his day and progress to the knock out stages. Here he faced the eventual finalist Liam Ashton-farr who he lost to, dropping him in to repecharge. He picked himself up with another ippon win but missed out to get in to the bronze match leaving him with 7th place. Well done, fantastic effort!
