Good effort from Henry Wakes at the weekend in Hungary. Henry (60kg) finished in a credible 5th place after six hard matches. The day started with an ippon win against Roberts (AUS) before losing to the eventual silver medallist from Italy in round two. A strong repechage run saw Henry defeat Durco (SVK), Aramu (ITA) and Samotog (UKR) all by ippon. In the bronze medal contest Henry was leading by two shidos in golden score when he attempted to finish the contest but was countered for waza-ari. Plenty to build on for the upcoming events.
