PHIL THE BAG- 9th March

We have signed up to an innovative fundraising programme called ‘Phil the Bag’, which recycles your old and unwanted clothing and turns it into cash for the Club. The main aims of our ‘Phil’ the Bag™ Scheme are to increase textile recycling rates, reduce landfill and to offer a financial reward to those participating in our project. ‘Phil the Bag’ not only develops the children’s sense of enterprise but also teaches them about the importance of recycling and how we can protect the environment. Did you know that textiles make up 12% of landfill sites?

What do they collect?
We collect all types of unwanted textiles including: All kinds of clothing; Shoes; Bags; Belts; Hats; Curtains; Towels; Bedding. Items are accepted in any condition and we are happy to accept your collection items in other bag types.

Where does it go?
These textiles are then sold on & distributed to people who can use & enjoy them in developing countries, which at the same time saves our environment from the burden of further resources going to landfill.

You can support our ‘Phil the Bag’ fundraising programme by donating your unwanted textiles in the bag provided and bringing them in to the Judo Club. We will be collecting the bags the week beginning 9th March, please give your bag in to the office when you sign in. So if you normally throw out your unwanted clothes or have bits and pieces gathering dust in the wardrobe, please use them to ‘Phil’ the bag! Don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a good clear out too! (Items are accepted in any type of bag and in any condition, as those items that cannot be reused are recycled).

I look forward to receiving your support for this fantastic fundraising initiative.
