Samoa World Cup- Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th Sunday

Two days and 3 flights got our four CJC warriors to Samoa to compete in the World Cup. All focussed on gathering Olympic qualifying points. Light weight fighter Sophie Johnstone in the -52kg drew an experienced German competitor first. Unable to secure the win she went out of the competition earlier than hoped. Next up was Tom Davis -81kg, confident off the back of his Swedish success he won his first contest against a Canadian. Moving him in to the quarter finals against Sedej of Slovenia. Unfortunately there wasn’t a repeat of the fortnightsuccess, Sedej defeated Tom leaving him with 7th place and some vital world ranking points.

Matthew Clempner was defeated first fight against a Mongolian in +100kg. Leaving Karina Bryant to go for glory for CJC. A very low entry meant after winning her first contest against a Mongolian Karina was in the final against a Turkish competitor. She won the final and got the Gold medal and some very important World ranking points. Good work!
