South Coast Success for new boy Dennis!

Dennis Gorman, who only joined C.J.C. at the tail-end of last year, fought impressively at The Sussex Junior Open for Green Belts and under, to win bronze in U38kg category.  This was despite having to pick himself up from the shock of being caught with a big throw early in his first fight by the eventual Gold medallist.  Dennis showed  considerable composure to recover quickly and go on to win the next three fights.  Most pleasing was his second round Ippon win which was gained from a technique the juniors had been working on in the session a couple of days earlier.  Dennis has now won a medal in all of the three competitions he has entered as a Camberley fighter and hopefully this record will continue, although there will undoubtedly be sterner tests ahead.

Also fighting were Ben Baxter (U42kg), Tom Kirk and Luke Smith (U34kg).  Their endeavour went unrewarded on this occasion although there were plenty of positives to be taken away, and a reminder to all that Judo contests can be won and lost on the smallest of margins, often by the fighter who makes the least mistakes as opposed to the one who makes the most attacks!
