Two members of the full time elite group at Camberley achieved medals at the San Vincente International in Spain last weekend. Tom Williams (Ford) won the bronze at 81kgs and Danny Finney won silver at U73kg. This was a great achievement as the international tournament was for senior fighters and both players are still in the junior age group. Tom Williams had five fights losing only once to the gold medalist from Spain-Madera who was also silver medalist in this year’s British Open. Tom’s fight for the bronze was against another Spanish International and he dug deep to win in the golden score period. Danny Finney blazed his way to the finals defeating three opponents. In the final he faced former under 23 European silver medallist Focke from Germany. Danny fought hard but the experience of the German was too much and he had to settle for the silver medal. Both boys will compete this weekend at the British Age Banded Championships.
