CAMBERLEY JUDO CLUB

Camberley Judo Club, Deer Rock Road, Camberley, Surrey GU15 4EP

British Schools Championships.

The new rules came into effect for the first time at Junior level and to their credit the three Cadet boys competing did not use this as an excuse for failing to make any impact on these championships.  4.00am starts are also something to accept and get used to when travelling to the showcase events and the jaded approach to some of the fighting was evident and testament to the importance of early nights in the run up and establishing a good pre-competition routine.  This was the first time at the Sheffield Ice for Ben Baxter (U42kg Year 6 & 7) and Oliver Baldwin (U46kg Year 8 & 9) and although both left disappointed there was plenty of evidence that they are continuing to progress with every outing.  Ewan Tweedie (U55kg Year 8 & 9) took Silver in this competition last Year in the U66kg category.  Although he was unable to take a medal this time round, his hard work on the Judo mat has contributed to him having trimmed down by over a stone in the last 12 months!  All the boys are to be applauded for their efforts and Camberley Head Coach Luke Preston summed it up nicely when he said to one of the boys “ … you have plenty of years ahead of you to get the results, as long as you are enjoying yourself that’s all that matters at the moment”
