Camberley fighters selected to compete in Senior Worlds in Paris


Three members of the elite team at Camberley Judo Club have been selected to represent GBR at the senior world championships this summer. Craig Fallon at 66kg, Danny Williams at 73kg and Karina Bryant at plus 78kg all received their call up last week. The championships, held in Paris, will be the final World Championships before next year’s London Olympic Games and will run from 23rd-28th August.

Craig Fallon, former World and European Champion, won the Gold medal at the German European cup last weekend winning all of his contests by the maximum score. Craig will fight at -66kg on Tuesday 23rd August, the first day of the tournament. The following day will see Danny Williams in action. The 22 year old has been selected for his second World Championships at -73kg. Williams has had a great year so far winning his first senior national title and also his first European Cup title. Last but without a doubt not least, on Saturday 27th Karina Bryant will take to the mat. Karina has an unbelievable 20 major Championships medals to her name. This includes 4 European titles and 5 senior World Silver medals. She also took gold at the German European Cup last weekend and like Fallon won all her contests inside the distance. Camberley Head Coach Luke Preston will travel as a coach with the British team to support the fighters. The final day of the tournament will comprise of a team event and all three of the Camberley fighters will join with the other member of the British team to attempt to take the title of World Team Champions.
