Judo Ashes Black Tie Gala Dinner 2013

In 2009 the world famous Pennyhill Park Hotel hosted the inaugural judo ashes when members of Camberley Judo Club’s elite team faced the Australian national team at the black tie dinner. The team event saw Camberley triumphant, 5 matches to 1 with 1 drawn contest. In November 2010 the Camberley team overcame a spirited young Welsh side this time at the five-star South Lodge Hotel in Horsham. The next Judo Ashes returned to Pennyhill Park Hotel in March 2012 with another triumph, this time against a German Team. The undefeated Camberley team will now face Spain in April 2013, with 3 victories under their belts the pressure is on and expectations are high!

The Black-tie evening was introduced to raise funds for the Surrey Going for Gold Charity which supports the star-laden Camberley Judo Club squad. Camberley Olympians and future Olympians such as Karina Bryant (London 2012 bronze medallist), Danny Williams, Ashley McKenzie, Nathon Burns and Tom Davis could all be members of the Elite team that will face the Spanish team. The evening again promises to be a spectacular one with a champagne reception, four course meal, various displays and the team match. All funds raised will go to supporting Camberley Judo Club and it’s athletes.
