Stuart Baldwin’s Marathon Challenge

A short update on progress toward my marathon challenge to raise money for Camberley Judo Club.

I have now been training since mid-June 2014 and I am happy with my progress. My first run was on June 19th and was a huge 2.2 miles, immediately after I thought what have I done?! Anyway, very quickly I managed 5.1 miles and was realising that a lot of this was going to be mind over matter.

Unfortunately a car accident in early July stopped me from training for 2 weeks which hampered progress somewhat. However last month I completed the Great South Run (10 miles) along with Russ Kirby, Sam Skillcorn and Sharon Baldwin, who also ran to support me on my challenge! I have a few more races planned over the coming months to keep me motivated and training hard.  A big thank you to Tony (T Dog) Baxter who is helping me with my training program which has become much more structured and now includes some delightful interval sessions too!  Below are a few numbers showing my progress and miles ran so far:

  • 1st Run 2.2 miles
  • Longest run 12.45 miles 2hrs 21 mins
  • Total miles run so far – 227 miles
  • Total time running – 33 hrs 37 mins (those recorded on watch)
  • Favourite run – Along the Atlantic Coast Fuerteventura (whilst on holiday not in my dreams!)

Fund raising is going amazingly well, we already raised £1560.00 without gift aid! There are some imaginative ideas generating off line pledges and some amazing individual donations being given.

Thank you for the continued support it makes a huge difference and hopefully we will reach the target, please take a look at my Virgin money giving page – link below
