Tom Williams (Ford) kept his 6 month unbeaten record in junior domestic tournaments when he won the English Junior Open last weekend. Tom won all of his four contests at 81kg to take the gold. The final was won very quickly with a clinically applied strangle. Frazer Chamberlain at 73kg had to complete six matches to finish with the bronze medal. He lost at the quarter final stage but recovered well to come back for a place on the podium. Also at 73kg Danny Finney completed five hard contests reaching the quarter final stage in the main draw. Unfortunately Frazer and Danny faced each other in the repechage final for a place in the bronze medal contest and Frazer moved to the final stage. This left Danny with a 7th place finish. Josh Butler at 90kg also finished with a bronze medal and a place on the podium. Robyn Irwin at 63kg battled hard to finish 7th and Sam Hughes at 55kg placed 5th. Also representing Camberley but not placing at this event was Lasha Lekishvili at 66kg. This weekend Sam Hughes, Danny Finney, Frazer Chamberlain, Tom Williams and Josh Butler will compete in the Bremen Masters in Germany. This is one of the toughest events in Europe at the under 20 age group featuring all top European countries and national teams from Asia.
